Me and My Jackson Maverick HD2 Pedal Steel Guitar
Through a series of miracles, I was led to a life of musical exploration through the pedal steel. Having first fallen in love with the steel guitar in the folk and country rock music of the ’70s, I learned to weave its sound into many styles. In 1976, I landed in Austin, circling back to country and outlaw music—before the steel guitar carried me on a musical journey around the world and into space.

Pedal steel is a charm
From the first time I ever picked out the sound of a pedal steel on a popular song, I fell in love with the sound. I just had to... HAD TO ... learn this beautiful instrument. Over the years, I learned to love the effect it could have at enhancing a song, beautify a voice, and add emotional depth to musical pieces. My relationship to the steel guitar has always been charmed - I have met and learned from some of the most accomplished singers, songwriters and instrumental performers, and an array of gifted producers and recording engineers.  I stumbled onto some amazing musical groups and bands, and had a musical career that took me from New Jersey to Nashville to Austin to the San Fransisco Bay, eventually making my musical home in San Diego, which has always had a magical singer/songwriter scene.

Â
I nvere imagined, when I met Dawn Jackson to help start the band Hatfield Rain, that she would eventually become one of the family owners of the newly revived ShoBud steel guitar brand, and that I would be part of Team Sho-Bud (https://sho-bud.com/team-roster/#team-members). Dawn reconstructed our original band from 2003 and has had us at the ShoBud revival shows in Hollywood and Nashville - what a treat

I was and still am excited to be a part of the music from the great talents coming out of San Diego, and especially, to be a part of a world community of pedal steel players and lovers. Â
